Most domestic health insurance plans do not cover you outside the country, and travel insurance bridges that gap. It also protects you if you have to cancel due to a family emergency or illness before the trip.
Given that this is an international trip/cruise, I strongly suggest looking at a plan that includes medical evacuation.

After that, you can make payments in whatever increments you like—weekly, monthly, or whenever you have extra funds—as long as the total is paid off by the final deadline.
Nubian Knights can even set up a monthly payment schedule for you if that makes it easier to manage.
"Life happens, so yes, you can cancel. However, most travel bookings become non-refundable as we get closer to the trip.
This is exactly why we recommended the Travel Insurance plan. If you have to cancel for a covered reason (like a medical emergency or job loss), insurance can reimburse you for the penalties that the travel suppliers won't refund. Without insurance, you would be subject to the standard cancellation fees."
